1 Overview

EdTecInfo respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. This DMCA Policy explains how we handle claims of copyright infringement on our platform, in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and applicable Nepali copyright law.

Our promise

We respond to every legitimate copyright concern within 48 hours. Content will be removed or properly attributed — whichever you prefer. No legal fees. No back-and-forth. Just cooperation.

2 Our position on content

EdTecInfo aggregates publicly available information and provides free utility tools to the Nepali education community. We are not a content host in the traditional sense, but we take copyright seriously.

Our approach:

  • All third-party content belongs to its original creator
  • We credit sources wherever possible
  • We honor SIL OFL, MIT, Apache, CC, and public domain licenses
  • We remove or attribute infringing content immediately upon verified notice
  • We cooperate fully with rights holders — no stonewalling

3 Filing a takedown notice

If you believe your copyrighted work has been used on EdTecInfo without authorization, send us a written notice to [email protected] with the subject line "DMCA Takedown Notice".

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge your notice within 24 hours
  2. We review the claim within 48 hours
  3. If valid, we remove or attribute the content immediately
  4. We notify you in writing when the action is complete
  5. If we disagree, we explain why in plain English

4 Required information

To help us act quickly, your notice must include:

  1. Your signature — physical or electronic
  2. Identification of the work — what copyrighted material is being infringed
  3. Identification of the infringing content — the exact URL(s) on our site
  4. Your contact details — full name, address, phone, email
  5. Good faith statement — that you believe the use is not authorized
  6. Accuracy statement — that the information is accurate and you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf
  7. Penalty of perjury clause — acknowledging that false claims carry legal consequences
If any of these elements are missing, we'll ask for them — but it's faster if you include everything upfront.

5 Counter-notice procedure

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake, you have the right to file a counter-notice. Your counter-notice must include:

  1. Your signature (physical or electronic)
  2. Identification of the removed content and its prior location
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed in error
  4. Your contact information
  5. Consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of Nepal

Upon receiving a valid counter-notice, we may restore the content within 10 to 14 business days, unless the original complainant files a court action.

6 Repeat infringer policy

In accordance with the DMCA, EdTecInfo maintains a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers.

  • First offense — warning + content removal
  • Second offense — 30-day suspension
  • Third offense — permanent ban

We track repeat infringements internally and act consistently, regardless of who the user is.

7 False claims

Please be aware that under applicable law, you may be liable for damages (including costs and attorney fees) if you materially misrepresent that content is infringing. Before filing a notice, make sure you've:

  • Verified that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf
  • Confirmed that the use is not protected by fair use
  • Checked whether the content is in the public domain
  • Reviewed the content carefully to ensure accuracy
