Download MIUI 11 Beta now now avaliable for many xiaomi Devices

At an event in China, Xiaomi has announced some of their newest pieces of technology. These include the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha, their latest experimental, concept device with a display that wraps around the entire phone, the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G which serves as the company’s newest 5G flagship, and their newest fleet of Mi TVs with 4K displays. But one thing that they’ve also announced was their next leap in software. The company announced MIUI 11, the latest version of their Android skin.

The newest Xiaomi software comes preinstalled in the Mi 9 Pro 5G as well as in the Mi MIX Alpha, but it is also set to roll out to many other devices across all smartphone ranges. If you’re interested in trying it out right now and you have a relatively recent device, you can download the beta MIUI 11 builds—based on both Android 7.1 through Android 10 depending on the device—for the devices listed below. These are all recovery ROMs, meaning that you can easily flash them using TWRP.

Altough, these are Chinese builds and thus do not come with Google Play Services or any Google apps pre-installed, though they are easy to sideload. The features may also be slightly different from what you expect from global builds as well, given that they’re focused towards the Chinese market. Lastly, the language options are likely limited to English and Chinese.

MIUI 11 Changelog

The full changelog for MIUI 11, when updating from MIUI 10, is as follows.

•  Dark mode
•  New Sound Effects & Better Dolby Sound Effects
•  Unlock: Fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock now simultaneously, waking up via voice command
•  Info Screen with charging status
•  Private albums for videos
•  Better energy-saving features

You don't have to use all the new functions, of course, but can easily activate them in the settings if necessary. In the medium to long term in the coming months, MIUI will follow these features:

•  Storage management: Local trash basket for images, automatic deletion of installed APKs
•  Inadvertent touch inputs are further reduced
•  View emergency contacts on the lock screen
•  New animations when charging
•  Stereo Bluetooth sound For Games
•  Child Mode/Kids Mode
•  Optimized Management of permissions of Apps
•  18:9 photo section

There will be also some pendent features coming with MIUI 11:  

•  Dual SIM: Standard SIM card for individual contacts
•  New colors for the interface
•  Accurate indication of the consumed data in hotspot mode
•  Notifications with "Snooze" button (e.g. reminder of a message in 2 hours)
