Apple Unveils iPhone Duo, Its First Foldable iPhone
One of the more unusual features tucked into Apple's newly announced iPhone Duo is a FaceTime camera placed underneath the phone's inner display — normally hidden from view, but active whenever a video call starts.
Because the camera sits beneath the screen rather than in a visible notch or cutout, it only becomes noticeable once a call is active. This setup lets people use FaceTime whether iPhone Duo is fully unfolded or simply propped up on a surface for hands-free calling.
Apple is also introducing two related features built around the phone's second, outer screen. Dual Capture shows both the front and rear camera feeds at the same time during a call. Duo FaceTime goes a step further, letting someone standing near the main caller join the conversation using the outer display and its camera — useful for calls where more than one person wants to be seen without everyone crowding around a single screen.
iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, with pre-orders opening October 16 and availability beginning October 23.
